The holidays are a time to gather, connect, and create lasting memories—and what better way to set the stage than with a thoughtfully designed holiday table? A beautifully styled table doesn’t mean buying all new pieces every year. It’s about curating a mix of what you love, adding seasonal accents, and making meaningful items part of the setting. Let’s dive into a few key elements to help you design your perfect holiday tablescape.
A Palette to Build On
Choosing a color palette is the first step in setting the mood for your table. You can go bold with deep, moody hues or keep things light with neutrals and soft pastels. This Thanksgiving table features warm yellows, rich oranges, and greens, which blend perfectly for an inviting, seasonal vibe. Once you have your palette, it’s easy to add subtle touches—like flowers or candles—that tie everything together.
Add Meaning with Personal Touches
Holiday gatherings are all about celebrating what matters most, so incorporate items that reflect you. Using pieces like your grandmother’s vintage glassware or the bronze flatware from your wedding makes the table feel more personal and full of meaning. Blending these unique pieces with newer finds, like the yellow wine glasses from Miller Lane Mercantile or pottery from New Americana, creates a story-rich, one-of-a-kind design.
Linens Make a Difference
Linens are key to softening the table and adding layers of texture. A tablecloth or runner sets the foundation, while napkins bring an extra pop of color or pattern. For this tablescape, we used a cotton striped runner and paired it with playful yellow linen napkins  and peach/red napkins from Miller Lane.
Don’t forget about napkin display! Folding napkins neatly or using faux leather napkin rings can elevate the table’s look. Whether rolled, folded, or draped, napkins are an easy way to inject personality and polish.
You'll notice that I like to take things from a variety of brands ranging in prices. You don't need to spend thousands of dollars to create an incredible table but instead, invest in a few unique pieces that can be used again and again and then add in less expensive pieces to supplement your table.
Dinnerware, Glassware, and the Details
This table came to life with large blue dinner plates from Amazon and Japanese pottery from New Americana for small plates. Green glassware, a mix from Mojave on Tejon and my grandmother’s collection, some of my favorite items I have of her's. The yellow wine glasses from Miller Lane are perfect for a seasonal pop of color.
For flatware, we used black silverware from Target to create contrast, and candlelight added warmth with hurricane candle holders from Crate & Barrel (here and here). Finishing touches like wood rings, acorns from Hobby Lobby, and pumpkins from a local grower (or your own garden!) rounded out the seasonal design.
